Thank you for coming to my open studio! We had such a wonderful time with each visitors, and I enjoyed the conversation very much. Many gave me very interesting aspect of Maulbronn and the surrounding nature! Now, I am a little wiser. 😊

At the end of the day, the owner of the residency, Karin and Hubert invited me to the garden supper. The delicious meal and good wine in this beautiful garden glass house.

It was a wonderful day. Thank you everyone for coming to see me, and Karin and Hubert for all the support!

The photo doesn’t give any justice, but there are soooo many dandelion fluffs blowing in the gentle wind. It is just a dandelion fluff, but the numbers overpower me.

写真では分かりにくいのですが、すごい量のたんぽぽの綿毛がゆらゆらしてる。これだけあると、どこか荘厳。

Dandelion fluffs.
I forgot to bring the third hand, which hold a plant in the ideal posture for me. So, this was a bit of struggle.. those fluffy seeds are very moody, falling off with a slight touch. Anyway, I managed it at the end, but well, I love to try it again. It has such a fascinating structure and insanely soft hair. Mine came close, but not quite.

サードハンドといういつも植物をいい感じで支えてくれるヤツを持ってこなかったので、なかなかうまく、良いところでじっとしていてくれません。綿毛はなかなか臍曲がりでちょっと触っただけでハラハラと抜け落ちてしまう。ま、最終的にはなんとかなったけど。。またいつかもう一度チャレンジです。よく見るとすごく面白いでも理にかなった形をしているし、この毛の柔らかくてピンと張った感じが…もう一歩難しい。

I found this frame at a second hand shop and painted in white. The white indicates white sugar, and I imagined the frame was made from sugar, like an Easter sugar egg. The reason why so is simple ; I like the texture of a sugar egg.
However, those white powder like sugar and flower amazes me all the time. These are definitely natural products, yet after refined artificially and manufactuary so well, those white doesn’t feel natural any more.. even it felt a bit toxic. Those white stuff was once so noble and precious, how and where the meaning shifts..

この額はリサイクルショップで見つけてきたものを真っ白く塗ったもの。この白はお砂糖をイメージしています。角砂糖みたいな感じです。そうした理由は簡単、単にこの砂糖を固めたあの感じがとても好きだから。
でもこうした真っ白の粉、お砂糖や小麦粉にはいつもドキリとさせられます。どこを切っても自然の産物ではあるのですが、大きな工場でしっかりと精製された白さはどこか人工的で、なんだか少し体に悪そうと思ってしまう。この真っ白なお砂糖や小麦は昔の人が見ればとんでもない贅沢品、一体いつ、どこでどうして意味が変わってしまったのだろう…

It was not just the Herman Hesse Linden tree, but also the beautiful lilac was greeting me with elegant scent in the air. The owner of the residency left a lilac on a welcome table in my room. So, I started my visual diary in Maulbronn with this gorgeous purple flowers.

ついにマウルブロンに到着。まずはヘルマン・ヘッセのリンデンの木がお出迎え。どこを見渡しても素敵でちょっとおとぎの国に来たみたい。春真っ盛りでレジデンスのお庭も、道端の雑草も、花で溢れてます。一体どこから手をつけて良いものか…2ヶ月なんてあっという間に過ぎてしまう!

Earth day today, thinking of the butterfly migrating to the north this time of the year, if they are having enough food on the way…..

For the preparation of upcoming show, I am working on tomato portraits in the morning, and butterfly installation at the night time. One of my dream is to make this installation bigger to share my thoughts on this to more people.

本日アースデー。蝶々のインスタレーションを作りながら、今ごろメキシコから北アメリカに向かっている蝶々たちを思ってみる。その道で十分な食べ物は見つかるだろうか？

もうすぐの展示のために昼の光があるうちはトマトを描いて、夕方から蝶々のインスタレーションの準備。いつか、もっともっとこの作品を大きくして、もっと多くの人とこういう思いを分かち合えたらなあ、と夢見てみる。

One, two, three…. Counting the jewel tomato collections. How many I can catch before the pile of tomatoes go bad. It is not easy resisting to bite the tasty tomatoes, but also so hard not to save for future collection.

I received this fantastic annual report book from @KCUA gallery @gallery_akcua . It was already a year and half ago… Time flies, but the memory is still fresh. It was such a fun exhibition working with amazing artists Naomi @naomikawanishireis and Sakiko @sakikokurita . I wish we have another chance to have another show somewhere in future!

Which one to start… It was very hard to pick one, so I thought two would be better. I feel like I should’ve chosen more, but then none of them will be finish before the tomatoes turn into stinky mess.

なかなか選べない、ましてや一つに絞るなんて。と、いうわけで二つ選んでみた。描いていると、もっと同時に描けたか？とふと思う、もっと。でも欲張ると結局どれも完成しない間に全部のトマトを腐らせてしまう恐れが…
にしても、石井さん @atumi.ishii のトマトはとっても新鮮、元気よし！あともういくつか描きたい- 持ち堪えてね。とトマトにお願いしてみる。
