Losing Paradise Lecture by Carol Woodin

Tuesday May 8th, 6:00 PM
The Arsenal Gallery in Central Park, Fifth Avenue at 64th Street
Carol Woodin, ASBA’s Director of Exhibitions, will present a lecture on “Losing Paradise? Endangered Plants Here and Around the World.” ASBA was invited to be part of the Uncommon Ground lecture series, a project of NY City Dept of Parks & Recreation, Adrian Benepe, Commissioner, in conjunction with A Window on Nature: Art of Asuka Hishiki. In this presentation, Carol will explore how ASBA artists worldwide depict endangered plants with the help of botanical institutions, scientists, conservationists, and horticulturists. The resulting artworks illuminate numerous stories about how plants became endangered and we a find a growing number of encouraging stories thanks to the diverse coalition of conservation networks, business associations, and individuals preserving the world’s flora.
